Art show news!
Just got word that i’m in CARDED! Click here for the details and totally check it out if you’re in Vancouver. Or even if you’re not! Fuck it, drop everything and get here for it. So i kept hearing that HEART ON was a rad show with a great crowd and super duper fun… but i either had a 24-hr flu or something funky because i totally felt queasy and had to go home early. It...

All i want to do is bitch about the Olympics.
HEART ON is this Saturday at Box Studios in Vancouver! I’ve uploaded some pics of my piece for the show to twitter HERE. “That Old Adage” … about 8 x 10, ink & acrylic on tea stained paper. I’m not very good at drawing things that are lovely and sweet, but lately i’ve had sayings like ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ or ‘a bird in the...

2010 News
Happy new year! Hope everyone’s hangovers are gone by now. They should be. I hope…!? Well, in sad news, i had to move out of my home away from home, my beautiful studio! In good news, i’m nearly done renovating my room in the slum house i live in so i can actually work in there. This has involved putting in new floors, repainting, getting more lights and buying really unusual...

Vancouver Eastside Culture Crawl 2009
Halloween and the craziness that carried over into early November are finally over! Both shows I was involved in got super positive reviews, and the one i did attend in Vancouver was awesome and really packed! Up next is the Eastside Culture Crawl in Vancouver on November 20th-22nd. Artists in Vancouver’s east side open their studios to the public and give people a chance to chat, hob nob...

Updates all around...!
Okay, so i think about 85% of the population who has tried to maintain a blog will drop the ball eventually… That being said, i have been a busy little bee and look at me, i’m going to try getting back on the horse! I’m in two shows at the end of the month: The Heavy-Hitting B-Grade Horror Fest in Whistler BC, and Something Wicked This Way Comes X in Vancouver, BC. The...

New painting ... New I,Braineater show!
So far, so good with the new painting. There are a few details to tweak in the background, but i need to wait a bit until the paint dries a bit. I’m starting the helmet tomorrow and who knows how that’ll go, but thus far i’m pretty happy with how this is coming along! It’s sort-of but sort-of-not a companion piece to my last painting… They came from the same initial...

Jem Gallery has moved!
I still haven’t checked out the new location of Jem Gallery yet. It sounds like they’re operating by appointment-only (with the exception of opening night parties of course) which is pretty sad since it was so cool to have a little local, lowbrow gallery in the Mount Pleasant area that you could just stroll into. Unfortunately, everyone i’ve spoken to seems to think it’s...

The new print is available now!! Go here to order yours! I don’t mean to sound conceited, but MAN, they look awesome. I’m super happy with how they turned out and the print quality is fantastic! (This is the first time i’ve gotten an honest to goodness fancy-dancy print done, so i’m really proud of it!!) Also, you know what sucks? Having NO INTERNET at home until the...

this month's Juxtapos and Hi-Fructose
Did some more work on the oil painting tonight! I get so impatient at this stage… when everything left to do is fussing with details and balance. When you’re starting something out, you can work on it for an hour and notice a huge difference, but once the base of a painting has been laid down, change is more gradual and you really need to be patient. Ugh! I’m totally digging...

It's Alive
Getting back into oil painting has been awesome. I really missed how fun it is to combine colours and how smoothly your brush glides across the canvas… Hell, i even missed that weird, oil paint smell. I’m really appreciating how different the techniques behind drawing and painting are - What’s prompted me to get back into painting more is that i’ve developed a bit of...
