It’s Alive
Getting back into oil painting has been awesome. I really missed how fun it is to combine colours and how smoothly your brush glides across the canvas… Hell, i even missed that weird, oil paint smell.
I’m really appreciating how different the techniques behind drawing and painting are - What’s prompted me to get back into painting more is that i’ve developed a bit of tendonitis from holding my ink and tablet pens too tightly. I went in today for some Dr. Frankenstein-esque nerve tests just to make sure it wasn’t something like carpal tunnel. They put some electrodes on various spots on my hand and wrist and then used a little taser to stimulate them, which made my fingers, wrist or entire forearm jerk, depending on where the taser and electrodes were. It felt SO WEIRD. Luckily, it isn’t carpal tunnel, so i’ve just gotta cut back on my time holding a pen and wear an admittedly cool-looking wrist brace from time to time.
Oh yea, and the doctor who gave me the shock tests totally had a Bela Lugosi accent. That really added an extra element of excitement to it!
